Performance Santa Fe presents
Montrose Trio

Description

The Montrose Trio is a collaboration stemming from a long and fruitful relationship between pianist Jon Kimura Parker and two former members of the Tokyo String Quartet, violinist Martin Beaver and cellist Clive Greensmith. Named after Chateau Montrose, a storied Bordeaux wine long favored after concerts, with a nod to the Montrose Arts District of Houston, the Montrose Trio has quickly established a reputation for performances of the highest distinction. The Washington Post raved about their “absolutely top-notch music-making, as fine as one could ever expect to hear…they are poised to become one of the top piano trios in the world.” Befitting the ensemble of three virtuosos, their program features Brahms’ masterpiece, his Piano Trio No. 2 in C Major, written when the composer was at the height of his creative powers.

Program:
David Baker | Roots II No 4. Boogie Woogie
Joan Tower | Big Sky
Mieczyslaw Weinberg | Piano Trio in A Minor, Op. 24
Johannes Brahms | Trio No. 2 in C Major, Op. 87
