Performance Santa Fe has the great pleasure of welcoming back the illustrious Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble.

Created in 1967 to perform the larger chamber works—from quintets to octets—these players, who customarily work together, draw on their camaraderie and so enrich the level of artistry with which they play. The Ensemble has an extensive discography, being one of the most recorded in the world, and an enduring international following.

Come for an evening of exotic sounding Brahms, Shostakovich’s almost symphonic Prelude and Scherzo, and a rousing octet written by Mendelssohn for his friend and violin teacher Eduard Ritz.

“Compelling grandeur…masterful.” – BBC Music Magazine

“Splendid playing; impeccable sound and balance.”Gramophone
