The rhythms that rocked the world, right here in Santa Fe!
Several years ago, seven of Cuba’s best musicians formed Asere (“I salute you” in Cuban Spanish), an acoustic band “carefully balancing a respect for the traditions of Son…with unexpected new influences.” (The Guardian) Son, the 16th-century ancestor to salsa music among other styles, combines the Spanish canción and guitar with Afro-Cuban rhythms. This fall, an expanded lineup embarks on a U.S. tour performing their “Cuban Nights” program. This “highly listenable” (Daily Telegraph) group is “a pleasure” (BBC). This is a wonderful taste of Cuba.
