Performance Santa Fe presents John Pizzarelli and Catherine Russell in Billie & Blue Eyes!
John Pizzarelli and Catherine Russell, two of the greatest interpreters at work in jazz today, join forces in Santa Fe to celebrate Frank Sinatra and Billie Holiday in a program that is part tribute and part personal introduction to the people who made this music famous. This not-to-be-missed concert features soulful interpretations of old-time favorites like “Ring A Ding Ding,” “One More for My Baby,” and “Them There Eyes.”
Jazz guitarist, vocalist, and bandleader, John Pizzarelli, is known for “reinvigorating the Great American Songbook” (The Boston Globe) with his smooth voice and soulful interpretations of chart-topping classics. Hailed as the “genial genius of the guitar” (Toronto Star), Pizzarelli is a Grammy nominee who has collaborated with everyone from James Taylor to the Boston Pops Orchestra, Paul McCartney to Rosemary Clooney.
Grammy Award-winning vocalist Catherine Russell has been dubbed “a legend hiding in plain sight” (The Huffington Post). Growing up with a father who was Louis Armstrong’s longtime musical director and having toured as part of David Bowie’s band, Russell has learned from the very best and is today one of the respected interpreters of jazz standards with six decorated albums to her name.
