Performance Santa Fe presents Julian Sands in Keats, Shelley, Ghosts and Lovers!
After a sold-out performance during Performance Santa Fe’s 2018-2019 Season, celebrated British actor Julian Sands returns to Santa Fe on Friday, September 20 for another one-man show filled with humor, drama, and his characteristic charm. This year, Sands will explore his favorite poems by John Keats and Percy Bysshe Shelley in his self-directed reading Keats, Shelley, Ghosts and Lovers.
Sands first visited the Keats-Shelley House — a museum in Rome dedicated to the two English Romantic poets — in the late 1970s and later played Shelley in Ken Russell’s film Gothic. Years later, after many subsequent visits by Sands, the Keats-Shelley House asked him to write a preface for a new anthology, John Keats and Percy Bysshe Shelley: Essential Poems, which would become the inspiration for his one-man show.
Sands has worked all over the world in film, television, and theater. He is best known for his film roles in The Killing Fields, A Room With A View, Impromptu, Leaving Las Vegas, Arachnophobia, Oceans 13, and The Girl With A Dragon Tatto; and on television: 24, Smallville, Ghost Whisperer, Dexter, and Banshee. He recently toured internationally with A Celebration of Harold Pinter, directed by John Malkovich, which Performance Santa Fe presented last year.
Ticket buyers are encouraged to stay after the September 20 performance to meet Julian Sands at a complimentary artist reception in the Scottish Rite ballroom.
As part of Performance Santa Fe’s 2019-2020 education offerings, Julian Sands will host a master class for theater students in the afternoon on Friday, September 20.
