Nicola Benedetti is one of the most sought-after violinists of her generation with a reputation for playing the most challenging works with “agile technique” (Chicago Tribune), “sumptuous tone” (Los Angeles Times), and “sheer beauty” (The Strad).
Recognized around the world for her extraordinary talent and dedication to musical education, the Scottish violinist is the youngest-ever recipient of the Queen’s Medal for Music.
Accompanied by her regular duo partner, Ukrainian-born pianist Alexei Grynyuk, Benedetti comes to Santa Fe to perform works by Bach, Prokofiev, Strauss, and her longtime friend, jazz genius Wynton Marsalis. Marsalis, a virtuoso trumpeter and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer wrote his first violin concerto with and for Nicola Benedetti in 2015 to much acclaim. The two have teamed up again to create Fiddle Dance Suit, which premieres in North America this January.
