At the end of the 2016-17 season, Joe Illick will step down from his role as Artistic Director of Performance Santa Fe.
Illick was hired in 2007 to bring new life to Performance Santa Fe (then called the Santa Fe Concert Association), and has achieved that result with great success during his decade-long tenure. The creative energy that Joe Illick and his wife Gina Browning poured into Performance Santa Fe propelled the organization to a broader range of offerings, an extraordinary standard of performance, and greatly increased community recognition. During this time, Performance Santa Fe also expanded its education programs to serve over 5,000 local students annually, while winning awards and receiving significant funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.
“It’s the right time for a change for Gina and me, and for the organization,” said Illick. “Performance Santa Fe has a strong Board and leadership. And, in our new Executive Director Jonathan Winkle, the organization has a highly skilled executive to manage the growth that has taken place.”
Jonathan Winkle, Executive Director, stated, “Joe and I have been working together on our transition plan for some time now and we are well into the season program planning for 2017-18. Joe and Gina have given a tremendous part of their lives to Performance Santa Fe over the past decade and their efforts are highly visible in both the growth and quality of the organization’s presented artists and education programs.”
PSF Board President David Marion commented, “While we will be sorry to see Joe leave his role with Performance Santa Fe at the end of our 80th anniversary season, we would like to take this opportunity to thank Joe and Gina for their significant contributions to our fine organization. Through their amazing energy and creativity, they have laid a solid foundation for Performance Santa Fe to build upon, as we continue to pursue our mission of bringing world-class performing arts and arts education programs to the Santa Fe community.”
