The amazing future of music arrives in Santa Fe!
Roomful of Teeth, the Grammy-winning vocal ensemble that employs alarmingly rich vocal textures from singing traditions the world over, first came together in 2009 to study world music at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. A member of the group, Caroline Shaw, was then inspired to write what became her groundbreaking Partita for Eight Voices. That work won the then 30-year old Shaw a Pulitzer Prize – the youngest person ever to do so in music.
Since then, the “hypnotic and intensely moving” (CPR.org) ensemble has collaborated with Kanye West, released two Grammy-nominated albums, and premiered many commissions. Join the genre-merging group for a “plush, enveloping performance.” (The New York Times)
