Performance Santa Fe presents Schoen Movement Company!

You won’t find Emily Schoen dancing in theaters. For the past five years, the New York City-based dancer, choreographer, and founder of Schoen Movement Company has been taking her sinuous, exuberant performances to unlikely spaces: parks, streets, and breweries. In keeping with the Company’s mission of uniting people from different demographics and exploring inventive and fresh avenues of dance, Schoen Movement Company will perform A Movement Flight — a site-specific program intended to bring dance out of concert halls and into breweries — at Second Street Brewery’s Rufina Taproom on October 9th in Santa Fe.

As a choreographer, Schoen has received the Gibney Dance boo-koo grant for emerging artists in New York City, an emerging artist residency from the Catskill Mountain Foundation, the Princess Grace Fellowship nomination by METdance, and was chosen by Dance Magazine as one of their “Top 25 to Watch.”

Schoen Movement Company is a three-time invitee to Jacob’s Pillow Festival and has presented original work at WestFest Top Floor, Greenspace, Steps on Broadway, and Gibney Dance.

As part of Performance Santa Fe’s education offerings this season, Emily Schoen will host a master class for advanced dance students at the newly finished NMSA dance studios on Tuesday, October 8th.
