Performance Santa Fe presents Yuja Wang in recital!
Yuja Wang is one of the world’s most exciting young pianists. She started playing at the age of six on her parents’ living-room piano, making her debut just four years later. She graduated from the Curtis Institute of Music at 20. Her professional career began during her spring break in 2007, when she was called on to replace Martha Argerich on two rehearsals’ notice in Boston, playing Tchaikovsky’s first piano concerto. Her career since then has taken off, and she has toured with the New York Philharmonic, signed onto an exclusive recording contract with Deutsche Grammophon, received an Avery Fisher Career Grant and a Grammy nomination, and performed with most of the world’s great symphonies and in the greatest halls. She boasts “astonishing technique,” (Los Angeles Times) and “wildly imaginative and breath-taking stage presence.” (euronews) “Enough cannot be said about the soloist…completely engrossing.” (Boston Musical Intelligencer).
Watch her “latest installment in an unbroken, and growing, string of musical triumphs…she seems to be redefining what is possible with the instrument.” (San Francisco Chronicle)
