During its years as the Santa Fe Concert Association, Performance Santa Fe was widely known as “the Pied Piper of Santa Fe” for its successful youth concerts series. Then and today, the organization boasts a wide-ranging and extensive educational outreach program. The first event took place on March 14, 1974, when the Utah Symphony Orchestra presented a program of light classics and patriotic music for 3,000 young people at Sweeney Center downtown. From the 1980s through the 2000s, youth concerts continued to play a vital part in the organization’s operations.
