This holiday season, The Boston Camerata bids us good tidings and peace on earth! The ensemble performs “A Medieval Christmas: Hodie Christus Natus Est” in the historic Cristo Rey Catholic Church. In their seasonal program, The Boston Camerata celebrates the spirit of medieval Christmas: a time when different cultures, tastes, manners, and languages could be heard together in polyphonic celebration.

Formed in 1954, The Boston Camerata is best known for glorious performances of medieval and Renaissance music. But their repertoire includes a wide range of music spanning time, genre, and geography— from the hymns of medieval Iberia to the rousing songs of the American Revolution. Under the artistic direction of Anne Azéma since 2008, the ensemble creates distinctive programs combining original scholarship with impeccable performances by outstanding vocalists and instrumentalists. Hailed as “ravishingly beautiful” (The Dominion Post), The Boston Camerata’s programs have won the hearts of listeners worldwide by imparting the role music has played in human history, across time and space.
