Performance Santa Fe presents the Emerson String Quartet!

The Emerson String Quartet—“arguably the world’s best group of chamber musicians” (Fortune)—has been a dominant fixture in the chamber music scene for over four decades. Since its start as a student ensemble at the Julliard School in 1976, the quartet has garnered vast critical acclaim and some of the industry’s most prestigious honors: nine Grammy awards, the Avery Fisher Prize, three Gramophone awards, and Musical America‘s “Ensemble of the Year,” to name only a few. Today—after completing more than 30 recordings for Deutsche Grammophon, collaborating with some of the greatest artists of our time, and performing dozens of premieres and commissions—the group is hailed as “the one indispensable quartet” (Newsday).

The ensemble—Eugene Drucker on violin, Philip Setzer on violin, Lawrence Dutton on viola, and Paul Watkins on cello—comes to Santa Fe to perform a selection of works by Mozart, Britten, and Beethoven.
