The world of the chanson comes to Santa Fe for two nights of unparalleled song, dance, and story!
Jacques Brel, the master of the chanson (French for “song”) left a worldwide legacy following his short career half a century ago. An ecstatic New York Times review of his 1965 spectacle noted that his “versatile” and “extraordinary” singing “stirred a sophisticated audience at Carnegie Hall to explosive acclaim […] Mr. Brel does not preach in his songs. He lives them.” Sometimes called the French Dylan, Brel was a singer-songwriter of literate, thoughtful, and theatrical songs about life, love, war, and death, and has inspired everyone from David Bowie to Frank Sinatra to Nina Simone. After his retirement, the English-language Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris premiered off-Broadway to celebrate his life and music, and has been a mainstay of the musical theater world ever since.
Performance Santa Fe is proud to present Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well, which will feature the musical line-up from the 2006 Off-Broadway revival.  Small plates and drinks will be served.
