Performance Santa Fe presents Julie Fowlis!
Award-winning Scottish Gaelic singer and multi-instrumentalist Julie Fowlis has received much praise for her ability to captivate broad audiences with her crystalline voice—one that has been described as “bewitching” (Le Monde) and sounding “like beautiful messages from another world” (BBC Radio)—as well as for her ambitious genre-crossing and collaborations with a wide array of artists. Fowlis is perhaps best known, however, for her role as lead vocalist in Disney Pixar’s Oscar and Golden Globe-winning animated film Brave, which takes place in the ancient highlands of Fowlis’s home country, Scotland.
Fowlis comes to Santa Fe with a remarkable series of achievements under her belt, including three consecutive nominations for ‘Folk Singer of the Year’ in BBC Radio 2’s Folk Awards as well as the title of Scotland’s Gaelic Ambassador, an honor bestowed upon her by the Scottish Parliamant in 2008.
