Performance Santa Fe is pleased to present cellist Matt Haimovitz in three intimate venues—the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, The Bridge at Santa Fe Brewing Co., and the Scottish Rite Center—where he will perform selections from Bach’s solo cello suites along with their corresponding overtures by composers commissioned by Haimovitz.
Haimovitz is known not only for his decades-long exploration of Bach’s cello suites, but also for bringing classical works beyond concert halls and into alternative spaces, a practice he pioneered back in 2000 with his Bach “Listening-Room” Tour. Praised for his ability “to tease 1,000 shades of tone out of a single stroke of his bow” (Toronto Star), Haimovitz’s career includes more than 20 years of award-winning work with Deutsche Grammophon as well as his and composer Luna Pearl Woolf’s own independent label Oxingale Records.
