Brighten your winter with the world’s most famous brass ensemble!
Since its founding in 1970, the Grammy-winning Canadian Brass won accolades with its diverse musical styles – from Baroque to Dixieland to Latin – as well as its “virtuosity, spontaneity, and humour” (Washington Post) in everything they perform. The quintet, instantly recognizable by their white shoes, has turned the once-mocked brass quintet into a raison d’être: they have carved out a repertoire for the group, with over 600 arrangements, transcriptions, and commissions to date; have made 132 recordings; have had 5 top-10 classical hits; and have sold over 2 million albums. Chuck Daellenbach, the tubaist and a founding member of the group, began playing tuba in 9th grade, when he had braces, because his band-director father needed someone to play the instrument.
The Canadian Brass is lauded for their “deadpan delivery of the best stand-up comics,” (The Cleveland Plain Dealer) “a blend that is akin to the dark smoothness of aged Scotch whiskey,” (ClassicsToday.com) and a Christmas album that will “amaze and confound” (Midwest Record) with their “richness and remembrances of the season.” (Audaud.com)
