Whether you’re the next Jack Sparrow or the Very Model of a Modern Major General, this is a show-stoppingly hilarious must-see!
Performance Santa Fe presents its annual free Family Opera with this year’s production of The Pirates of Penzance. This uproarious opera by the legendary Gilbert & Sullivan showcases talented EPIK artists and professional singers from the Fort Worth Opera, and will leave you in stitches! From its premiere in 1879 up to the present, gimmicks like the song “I am the very model of a modern Major-General,” puns, tenderhearted pirates, mistaken birthdays, and general silliness continue to rack up the laughs. In 1880, at its first American performance, it was described by The New York Times as “exceedingly droll, full of good points, odd rhymes, and irresistibly comical situations…it would be impossible for a confirmed misanthrope to refrain from merriment over it.” We hope you and your family agree!
