Performance Santa Fe is delighted to present New Mexico’s diva, Susan Graham in a very special recital.
Ms. Graham and pianist Malcolm Martineau will present an evening performance centered around and serving as a sort of deconstruction of Schumann’s iconic song cycle Frauenliebe und Leben (A Woman’s Love and Life). It is an incredibly varied program musically, dramatically, and stylistically, with the Schumann songs serving as the impetus and inspiration for all of the evening’s pieces. Each numbered set contains the corresponding song from Frauenliebe und Leben. The sets of the first half will begin with the corresponding Schumann piece; each set of the second half will end with the Schumann. In this way, the concert will commence with the first lied of Frauenliebe und Leben and conclude with the final song, while taking the audience on a journey that explores each piece individually and the themes of the song cycle as a whole.
Join Performance Santa Fe and Susan Graham for this moving tribute to Schumann and the cycle of love.

“Graham’s mezzo-soprano is a voice without regrets,
healthy, rounded, ineffably musical, and eager for a challenge.”
The New Yorker
